   Five Easy Steps

Open a Meridian Bank Texas account
To get started, all you need to do is visit us to open an account. Please bring in your valid driver's license and an opening deposit of $100.00 or more. You will receive starter checks when you open your account. Use the Step 1 Individual Information Sheet to provide us with everything we need to open your account.

Start using your Meridian Bank Texas account

Start making deposits, initiating payments and using your debit card on your Meridian Bank Texas account. You should keep your old account open until Step 5, but you should stop writing checks on your old account. Remember to leave adequate funds in your old account to cover any outstanding checks or automatic payments. Please refer to the Step 2 New Account Information Sheet for more information on using your new account.

Change all direct deposits

Complete the provided Step 3 Direct Deposit Request Form (make copies if necessary) and forward it to each payor to let them know you have changed banks. Some payors may require that you include a deposit slip or a voided check from your new Meridian Bank Texas account. Note: Some payors may require you to fill out a form that they provide.

Change all of your automatic payments and transfer online payees

Send the Step 4 Automatic Payments/Transfer Form (make copies if necessary) to companies with which you have established an automatic payment for your bills and obligations. Include those payments that may use your old debit card number, as well as any payments you make less often than monthly. Please check with the billing companies to make sure they will accept our form. A simple phone call to them may do the trick. We have included in this kit a Payments and Deposits Checklist to help you organize your automatic payments and direct deposits.

Sign up for Meridian Bank Texas' personal online banking and set up your payees in our online bill pay system. If you are currently using another online bill pay service, just log in and select the option to view your payees. Print the details and add these payees to our bill pay service. Note: A bank statement from your previous bank may be helpful for use as a cross-reference.
Close your old account
Once your old account checks have cleared and you have changed your automatic payments and direct deposits to your new Meridian Bank Texas account, you will then contact your former bank for instructions on closing your old account. If acceptable, you can use our Step 5 Account Closure Form to notify your former bank. Remember to follow up with your old bank to make sure your account is closed. Don't forget to destroy all old account checks, deposit slips and ATM/debit cards! We'll even do it for you, just bring those items into our office.
